Registration dates for the 2025-26 school year:

* All registration periods open at 12 pm (noon).

Sibling Registration
January 7 – January 11, 2025

Choice Registration
January 15 – January 20, 2025

Any child who turns 5 years old in 2025 (born in 2020) is eligible to register for the 2025/26 school year. For additional information about Kindergarten Registration phases, see the Registration Phases tab below.

Registration Process
Review our 6 kindergarten registration steps

Registering your child for kindergarten is a big step, but it doesn’t have to be a difficult one. With our easy new online registration process, you can register your child from the comfort of your own home.

Review the registration steps below to ensure you are ready for the big day. Complete steps 1-4 before registration to save time.

STEP 1

OPEN A PARENT PORTAL ACCOUNT

You must open an SD42 Parent Portal account to access registration. If possible, complete this step well before registration day at

REVIEW ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA

The order in which we place our new kindergartners is determined by our Acceptance Criteria. Review these below.

Once you receive email notification of your child’s tentative placement, you must upload supporting documents to the Parent Portal. See Supporting Documents section below.
Registration Phases
Dates for Sibling, Enviro, Choice, and General registration

Registration opens at noon on the first day of each registration phase and closes at midnight of that registration phases’s last day. All registrations will be date/time stamped once after you complete the address/account page and you START entering student information. There is no need to rush through the form to submit. Please complete all sections fully.

 

Sibling Registration (Jan. 7-11, 2025)

Sibling registration (for general and choice programs) is open for siblings of students already attending the desired elementary school (currently in grades K-6). See acceptance criteria 1.

NOTE: You must link the older sibling to your Parent Portal account before registration:

 

Enviro Registration (Jan. 8-10, 2025)*

Environmental school registration is open to students who wish to participate in this program of choice. See acceptance criteria 2-5. *Registration for siblings of Environmental ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ students runs January 6 – 9, 2025.

 

Choice Registration (Jan. 15 – 20, 2025)

Choice program registration for all students who wish to participate in any one of SD42’s unique program offerings. See acceptance criteria 2-5.

FRENCH IMMERSION: Eric Langton Elementary, Laity View Elementary, Maple Ridge Elementary, Pitt Meadows Elementary

MONTESSORI: Hammond Elementary

 

General Registration (Jan. 29 – Feb. 4, 2025)

General registration for English school. See acceptance criteria 2-5.

 

Late Registration (Feb. 19 – July 25, 2025)

Late registration phase is for parents/guardians who missed previous registration phases.

 

Open Registration (Aug. 20 – Sept. 19, 2025)

Open registration phase is for parents/guardians who missed previous registration phases.

Supporting documentation
Documentation required for registration for all school-age students
  • Proof of age and address

    All students registering for kindergarten must be 5 years old on or before December 31, 2024.

    Student’s Proof of Age

    Parents/guardians must provide ONE of the following documents for their child for verification:Ìý

    • Birth CertificateÌý
    • B.C. Drivers Licence/µþ°ä±õ¶ÙÌý
    • B.C. Services Card/Care CardÌý
    • INAC Status CardÌý
    • Passport/Nexus passÌý

     

    Proof of Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Resident StatusÌý

    Parents/guardians must provide ONE of the following documents for both child and parent for verification:

    • Canadian Birth CertificateÌý
    • Canadian PassportÌý
    • Canadian Citizenship CardÌý
    • Landed Immigrant DocumentationÌý
    • Permanent Resident Documentation/cardÌý

     

    Proof of BC ResidencyÌý

    Every parent/guardian registering a child must prove BC Residency by uploading ONE of the following documents to the Parent Portal*: Ìý

    • BC Drivers LicenceÌý
    • µþ°ä±õ¶ÙÌý
    • BC Services Card (Care Card)Ìý

     

    Proof of ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ CatchmentÌý

    Every parent/guardian registering a child must prove ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ Catchment by uploadingÌýTWO of the following documents to the Parent Portal* with at least One from Category A:Ìý

    Category A:

    • Mortgage Document
    • Property AssessmentÌý
    • Purchase/rental/Lease AgreementÌý
    • Annual Municipal Utility/Tax Statement

    Category B:

    • ICBC DocumentsÌý
    • Municipal/Utility Tax Bill/Credit Card BillÌý

  • Temporary resident and refugee supporting documents

    A student who is in British Columbia with their parent/legal guardian may be eligible for a publicly-funded education if the parent/legal guardian meets criteria set out by the provincial government and the Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ District.Ìý

    Custodial parents/legal guardians of school-age students who are out of province/country must provide proof of age and proof of address (see Proof of age and address tab above).Ìý

    Additionally, they must provide official and original documentation of ONE of the following:Ìý

    • Work permit valid for a year or more, proof of employment shown on current three paystubs (minimum 30 hours per week), and a passport; ORÌý
    • Study permit valid for a year or more, letter of acceptance or transcript showing enrolment in degree or diploma granting program at a public post-secondary institution or enrolment in degree-granting program at a private post-secondary institution authorized by the B.C. Ministry of Advanced Education, a statement of tuition paid, a program schedule, and a passport. (Permit cannot be for high school upgrading or ESL unless required for acceptance into the afore-mentioned programs, for one year only, and the institution is BC-EQA); ORÌý
    • Diplomatic status.Ìý

Acceptance Criteria
View criteria used to determine order and placement of students

The following criteria will be used to determine order of placement of students:

  1. Siblings of students already attending desired elementary school (currently in grades K-6);
  2. IN catchment (proof of residence required*);
  3. IN catchment daycare (proof of daycare in catchment required.*See sample);
  4. OUT of catchment without siblings;
  5. OUT of district students.

* Once notified of tentative placement, upload supporting documentation to the Parent Portal by noon:
