A bird heralded for its wisdom is behind a new name and logo for Maple Ridge’s Environmental 蜜桃传媒.
The school now goes by the name tseet muhxw聽Environmental Community, a name meaning great horned owl, and gifted to the school by the Katzie First Nation.
It is pronounced “seet mukh”.聽
The News is using the English spelling of the name using the Latin alphabet, spelled聽out by school language planner, and member of the Katzie First Nation, Paula James, because of the diverse characters and symbols used in the Halkomelem dialect.
